What is a Website Lease?
A Website Lease is ideal for clients who have cashflow issues that make it difficult or impractical to put 50% down and pay the remaining 50% within a few months time.
Offering a leased website provides your customers with a high quality “customized” website, without the high upfront costs.
We recommend charging $500-$750 for a set-up fee, then a minimum of $349 per month ongoing.
Similar to leasing a car, this is not a “subscription,” or a “payment plan.” At the end of their contract (we recommend a 12 month commitment), the client can choose one of the following:
Renew their lease
This will typically include either a design refresh, or additional content/functionality being added.
Buy out their lease
They will need to pay a fee to receive an export of their website to move it to a different hosting account.
Walk away
After their 12 month commitment, they can walk away and let the website be deleted.
What a Website Lease is NOT
Don’t get it twisted! A website lease is absolutely not for a client that can’t afford you. It is for clients with basic needs, who can afford an ongoing monthly payment.
Important: When structured and priced proerly a website lease will not be a financial risk for your business.
